THE 1ST DAY OF JORE

SATURDAY, APRIL 23, 11 A.M.

Šventė prasideda talka. Vyrai iš laukų veža akmenis būsimosios Perkūno šventovės pamatams...

  • 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. A bee in the ancient Lookout of the Sky and Perkunas (the Thunderer) shrine.

A bee in a hallowed place is a part of the festive ritual. Getting ready for the festive ritual is a very meaningful part of the festival itself. Working together in the festival site, the participants will create Darna (a harmony) not only with the surroundings, but with their souls as well. The festival is an action of regaining powers after finishing one work and getting ready for the other. Let there be Darna!

[Take your working wear]

  • 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Ritualistic steam bath.

After the festive bee all the divine springs of the Universe – fire, stone, water, air, steam, wood, and ground – will bring strength to your body and soul in the forefathers’ bathhouse. After bathing and swimming in the fresh water of  lake Lenktinis , we will gather around the bonfire with clean and elevated soul. Let there be Darna!

[A towel and soft drinks are necessary]

  • 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. A discourse about the ancient faith of the Balts. A get-together by the bonfire. Songs.

The festive bonfire will connect in circle the attendance and we will sink in contemplation about our spiritual heritage its meaning and importance. The words of the ancient songs will take us back to our spiritual fountainhead. Let there be Darna!

  • 8 p.m. Dances and songs.

THE 2ND DAY OF JORE

SUNDAY, APRIL 24, 10 A.M.

  • 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. The secrets of ancient crafts and traditions.

Folk artists and craftsmen will reveal the secrets of their craft. You will be able to see, buy or make a desirable article yourselves.

  • 12 a.m. Gathering in the ancient Lookout of the Sky. Making up the altar fire. The speech of the Vaidila (the priest). Welcome speech of the Krivis (the high priest of Romuva).

[Come wearing festive (ethnographical) clothes, at least an ancient decoration, e.g. a belt, a bracelet, a brooch… Spiritual light and power from the Eternal Garners reach us through the eternal signs of the forefathers].

  • 12.20 a.m. Putting the great kettle of offerings on to boil.

An ancient offering is a common treating of the participants of the ceremony with the invited Gods and forefathers. The great kettle of offerings will be boiling all the festival through, absorbing our thoughts, wishes, festive mood and hopes… Later we will scoop it out and share the burgoo.

  • 12.30 a.m. Festive walk to Kulionys Mound.

A human chain will connect the place of celebrating with the mound, the living and the dead, the present and past… We will go to get the Powers.

[Carry a flag of your land, community, organization or some other cognizance].

"Tepadeda man protėvių Vėlės ir Didieji Dievai. Tegul teikia stiprybės ir galių žengiant į ateitį. Tebūnie Darna.” - kartu su Kriviu taria visi įsišvenčiantieji į romuvius.

“Dabar tai tavo stiprybės, išminties ir sėkmės ženklas palaimintas protėvių. Esi Romuvis. Kurk Darną!” - isišvenčiančiuosius laimina Krivis.

  • 1 p.m. A ritual to commemorate the defenders of Kulionys castle and the souls of the forefathers. Consecration to Romuviai. Forefathers’ songs. The show of the warriors.

We will express our thanks to the souls of our forefathers who defended our freedom and faith with their blood. Thanks to them we are Lithuanians, we have our land, language, past and faith. Ancient songs and clank of swords will be heard. Those who are ready to continue the works of the forefathers will swear a holy oath… Let there be Darna

[Bring candles to commemorate the forefathers’ souls on the mound. Those who are self-determined to be consecrated to Romuviai should bring the chosen sign of determination. That could be a traditional brooch, bracelet, belt, ring, and pendant. Those will become the sign of your strength, wisdom and luck].

  • 3 p.m. A ritual in the ancient Lookout of the Sky devoted to Aukštėjas (the Heavenly Deity), Perkūnas (the Thunderer) and Žemyna (The Goddess of the Earth).

Jore is the day when the power of Aukštėjas descends to the bodies protected by Žemyna in the form of Perkūnas’ light. The rumble of thunder wakens up to the season of flourish. All in one will accept the gifts of the Sky and the Earth. Let there be Darna!

  • 3.40 p.m. Offering stones for the Perkunas shrine.

The participants of the festival one by one will solemnly put the stones for the renewal of the Perkunas temple. Everyone will tell a word where the stone came from and his compliments. Krivis will consecrate the offered stones. Let there be Darna!

  • 4 p.m. Tasting the hallowed burgoo. Common regale, joruciai (colored eggs) rolling. Swinging.

The participants of the festival will spread their tablecloths on the lawn next to Perkunas temple and lay out the treats brought along with them. Then they will take their plates and come to the ritual kettle and get the ritual burgoo. They will treat themselves and treat each other. Anything that you offer the other person today will be recouped with usury tomorrow. Let there be Darna!

  • 4.30 p.m. A revel in Darna (harmony) with the resurgent nature.

When the first brume of vitality covers the land, trees, animals and people, when the powers of life arise, when inaudible bursts throw away winter arils from grains and sprouts, when buds shoot forth and life erupts you must join this circle of life in time, for your journey to successful and you to be strong and healthy, to be a man of dash and activity. Let there be Darna!

  • 8.00 p.m. Seeing-off the Sun.

YOU ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE!
